As a new member of the Quality Franchise Association, we spoke to Mark Roberts about his success with franchising the Leisure Estate Agents brand, and what his plans are for the future.

Can you tell us about your career to date?

Hello, my name is Mark Roberts and i’m the founder & managing director of Leisure Estate Agents – my journey started nearly 30 years ago in caravan sales on a park in Towyn North Wales.

I progressed to sales manager on this park and after a few years joined Park Resorts and later on in my career joining Haven achieving top sales person for the company and becoming an established sales manager at the highest level on 3 large holiday parks across the UK. I have also enjoyed my time being a group sales manager for a large family owned holiday park business with 14 parks.

I have always shown integrity and pride in my work whilst sharing my work ethics, ideas and support to aspiring newcomers who have now gone on to be national heads of sales for the big groups.

Always having the entrepreneurial instinct I set up a new starter company in 2005 with £2,000 and turned over £3.5M in 3 years, something i’m very proud of and always look back as a major achievement, especially when I was in employment and on a good salary at the time, however this just shows if you truly believe in yourself anything can happen!

Not for the first time have I succeeded with a new start up venture, in 2005 with only £2,000 we turned over £3.5M in 3 years with a highly successful sales & marketing company selling caravans & lodges into Spain to British holiday home owners.

This is something i’m very proud of especially as I was in employment and on a good salary at the time, however this just shows if you truly believe in an idea & yourself anything can be acheived!

What is your current role?

My current role is managing director at Leisure Estate Agents – which is an exciting role guiding the business through the thriving UK ‘staycation’ caravan and lodge industry.

Can you tell us about your company?

I had the idea back in 2005 but started my other business so this went on the back burner, however whilst managing a large park around 5 years ago it brought my idea back to the forefront as there were so many people who had bought caravans who needed help and it was quite obvious the sales team weren’t that bothered. My philosophy has always been to offer the same empathy and care when someone buys to when the customers needs to sell, never let go of the hand that feeds you. So I started 4 years ago with caravan estate agent, this business focussed to help ‘private sellers’ achieve a better/fairer price when having to sell there caravan or lodge, with the industry becoming more and more popular especially over the last few years – Leisure Estate Agents was launched to be the go to place for Static Caravans – Lodges – Park Homes throughout the UK.

Our team helps private sellers all over the UK and also help support parks with sales and marketing strategies to attract the right buyers to the right parks.

How many franchisees does the company currently have?

We are offering 17 selective franchise partnerships across the UK, with amazing growth potential, this amazing opportunity lets you achieve life/work balance with a healthy ROI.

What are your targets for franchise growth over the next 3 years?

Over the next 2 years our goal is to have all 17 franchisees partner & grow with us on this exciting journey ahead to form the No1 go to place in the UK for buying or selling Caravans, Lodges or Park Homes

What are your interests and hobbies? Do you have any personal achievements?

I’m enjoying Gracie Jiu Jitsu 3 times a week for the last 18 months, this is a great mind release from the everyday business world, however its fighting chess and was formed for the smaller person to overcome the larger person so a little bit like business in a funny way and it’s something I really look forward to, meeting new friends away from the business is also quite refreshing.
